I saw this trick performed back around 1990 and it fooled me bad. I loved the story line but the secret moves were just so darn smooth and deceptive.  My friend purchased it at the Columbus MagiFest from the now defunct Philadelphia Magic Company. Fast forward a few decades and I'm trying to track down the creator so I can purchase the manufacturing rights and once again share this amazing trick with the world. It hasn't been available for almost 30 years and its simply a masterpiece! Thanks to Michael Webber & Richard Kaufman, I was able to track down the estate of the late Earle Oakes and purchase the rights to his very best creation. 

A spectator examines a small padlock with keys and is asked to thread the padlock onto a normal shoelace. The shoelace and padlock are now placed in the magicians open hand. He closes his fist, and the spectator then ties a knot with the ends of the shoelace so the padlock can’t possibly come off of the shoelace or escape from the magician’s hand.

At the magician’s command, the secured padlock disappears from his hand leaving only the knotted shoelace. The padlock magically reappears locked on the magician’s finger ring of his opposite hand. The Magician removes his finger ring from his finger with the padlock securely locked onto it. The padlock, shoelace, and finger ring are not gimmicked, and everything may be examined!
